Studio Etiquette and Courtesy

The studio serves approximately 40 students and families, so clear and consistent expectations help lessons remain peaceful, safe, and productive for everyone.

Scheduling, Cancellations, and No-Shows

Please select the student’s reserved lesson time carefully. There is usually very little flexibility for moving a lesson to a different day or time, and schedule changes cannot be guaranteed.

Cancellations should be submitted through the My Music Staff calendar or by text. If a student is not seated at the piano and ready to begin by six minutes after the scheduled starting time, the lesson is closed. With notice, it is recorded as a cancellation; without notice, it is recorded as a no-show. Tuition is not refunded or credited.

Two consecutive unexplained no-shows or unpaid reserved lesson periods, or continued failure to respond after several communication attempts, will release the student’s lesson place.

Arrival, Pickup, and Parking

Students should enter one to two minutes before the scheduled lesson and be picked up promptly afterward. Late pickup may result in a fee of $2 per minute per student.

Please do not block driveways, mailboxes, the basketball hoop, or trash collection areas. Leave a full car length around the mailbox. The studio driveway or a curb space farther from the mailbox is recommended.

Drop-Off Lessons and Occasional Observers

Drop-off lessons are warmly encouraged. Students often concentrate, take creative risks, build independence, relax, and engage more freely when the studio is calm, quiet, and uncrowded.

Only the policy-signing, tuition-paying parent may observe when needed. Because the studio space is small, only one parent may attend at a time. An observer should remain quiet and avoid coaching, correcting, or interrupting. An observer may be asked to wait elsewhere if the lesson needs a calmer setting.

A Safe, Respectful Studio

Please keep siblings, devices, food, and unnecessary noise from distracting the lesson. Students should not attend with a wet or chesty cough, runny nose, watery eyes, a sore or raspy throat, fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. Students should arrive with clean hands, trimmed nails, and hair secured away from the eyes when needed. Families should communicate behavioral, emotional, sensory, attention, learning, or medical needs that may affect participation.
